David Wofsey is a graduate of the RCA Institutes in the studies of Advanced Electronics Technology where he attended for six and a half years in the evenings. During this time, he obtained his practical experience through employment with various companies such as Sonotone Corporation, in Statistical Quality Control; General Electric as a Machine Shop Floor Inspector; North American Phillips as a Quality Control Manager, and Simmonds Aerocessories in Aircraft Instrument Research and Development. After graduation from RCA Institutes, he was requested to return to Sonotone as a Management Quality Engineer where he supervised and revised many of the production and testing methods of Hearing Aids. After Sonotone, his major employment was with Martin Marietta for ten and a half years. There, his work effort involved three departments. Firstly, Secondary Standards as a Senior Technician technically advising the Department Manager and solving the critical problems of instrument calibration and standards. Then, assigned to the Test Tooling Department as a Manufacturing Engineer designing testing tools for Titan I and Titan II check out. With his assignment of the project for the instrumentation of the production welding machines of Titan I, he was transferred to Advanced Manufacturing Technology to provide technical support to the Major Weld Department. During this assignment, he provided instrumentation and tools for the production welding of Titan I and Titan II. Titan III tapered welds had to be in production in 30 days. He designed the adaptive tooling that was installed in 30 days for production that was used for 20 years in production of tapered welds for Titan III and Titan IV. Also, he had three invention patents on the fusion welding process, US Patent No. 3,207,886 AC-DC Welding Method; US Patent No. 3,486,667 Seam Tracking Welding System; and US Patent No. 3,694,621 Null Law Penetration Control. He was honored twice in Washington DC by Martin Marietta for his welding inventions. The Null Law Penetration Control is now a standard welding system of now Lockheed Martin which is used in the fabrication of the Titan IV, and advanced space launch vehicles. Additionally, he invented a method of monitoring welds in process that will provide a computer evaluation of a weld at the time of completion. This is now the property of Lockheed Martin.
After his employment with Martin Marietta, he worked as a Welding Engineer with Bendix on the Life Support System for the Space Shuttle. Another major endeavor was the hearing aid Business as a Telex Distributor. He sold and fitted hearing aids through out the Rocky Mountain Area. This business was discontinued from the effect of Federal Regulations on exclusive distributorships. During the time of the Hearing Aid Business, he worked second shift at Gardner Denver as a Machine Shop Floor Inspector in an attempt to maintain the Hearing Aid Business as a service to his customers. After Gardner Denver, his major work was as a Quality Control Consultant for MTB Quality Consultants of Baytown Texas. This work involved a very wide variety of projects for major companies, Exxon, Enron, Stewart Stevenson Power, Lockheed Martin, McDermott Engineering, Toyo Engineering, and others including the installation of a 2,700KW Diesel Generator at Falcon Air Force Base.
His invention of the Sonic Spark Plug was a visualization of the need to increase the fuel efficiency of the automobile. The first Sonic Spark Plug design US Patent No. 4,028,576 was too expensive to make. The present design US Patent No. 5,610,470 is less costly, and can meet all gasoline combustion engine requirements.
David Wofsey has been addressing the Colorado Air Quality Board on Air Pollution Issues for over ten years. In summary, David Wofsey is technically expert in the application of his Engineering Knowledge.
