Sonic Spark Plugs are PRE-GAPPED, so you simply need to take out the old plugs and put in Sonic Spark Plugs. **Please note: Sonic Spark Plugs are more efficient than conventional plugs, so your vehicle's on-board computer will need to be reset. To do this, simply disconnect both leads to your battery and touch the leads together, which will reset the on-board computer.
1. Mechanic - It is usually pretty simple job to have your mechanic install Sonic Spark Plugs, and not expensive. Your mechanic can install the plugs at your next scheduled tune-up.
2. Factory Service - Often times, factory service will discourage you from installing new plugs, telling you that your plugs are good for either 50,000 or even 100,000 miles. Some factory service stations may even tell you that installing these plugs will void your warrantee. As ruled by the United States Federal Trade Commission, and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act, a vehicle manufacturer may NOT make its vehicle warranty conditional on the use of any brand of spark plug.
3. Do It Yourself - Easy. Like screwing in a tiny light bulb with a socket wrench. If you're reading this, you've done it before.
Where is the extra
performance usually felt?
It depends on the type of
vehicle. V-6 and V-8 engine can expect to feel the extra power at
lower R.P.M.s. If you have an inline 4 or 6, expect the power more
toward the upper-range of your tach.
Why are these more
expensive than regular plugs?
Sonic Spark Plugs have a lot
of extra quality-control and handwork. They are made in process that
requires many more steps than conventional spark plugs.
How are these plugs
made?
We start out with premium
Autolite and NGK brand spark plugs, and modify them with our patented
process. But before they are modified, they are put through a second
battery of quality-control checks, since not all spark plugs are
precisely-manufactured enough to handle our modifications. Then the
plugs are carefully adjusted, machined and custom-modified to work
optimally with every customer's vehicle. Your spark plugs get a lot
of attention before they end up in your car or truck.
Can I expect to see
Sonic Spark Technology is anyone else's spark plugs?
Maybe. We work closely with
key spark plug manufacturers, and some of them are waiting for the
right time to exploit ultrasonic spark technology. If you haven't
seen it yet on the big guy's products it's probably because the large
companies have to wait until more buyers understand ultrasonic plugs.
But by buying through Sonic Spark Plugs, you can have tomorrow's
technology today.
Are they safe for my
vehicle?
Safe as a regular plug. Why?
Because unlike other high-performance plugs, we don't modify the
spark, we only add the ultrasound. So your spark won't be any hotter
or longer than the factory specifications. We have found that the
major spark plug manufacturers are very careful about manufacturing
plugs that are safe for your vehicle. We don't believe in deviating
from their specifications.
Are they difficult to
install?
Depends on the engine. Some
engines are easy, some are a little harder, but Sonic Spark Plugs
install like regular plugs. If you have any difficulty, your auto
technician will be able to readily install them. When installing on
newer, computer-controlled engines, disconnect the leads to the
battery and touch them together. (Warning: Be careful not to short
the battery!) This will force the on-board computer to reset, because
Sonic Spark Plugs have a different performance
characteristics.
Will I need to
retune?
Depends. If your engine is
carbureted, and needed a tune before you put the spark plug in, a
tune will help. If your engine is already in tune, you should be okay
when you install Sonic Spark Plugs, but sometimes, you might find
that tweaking your air/fuel mixture may give better results.
Why are they
factory-gapped?
After twenty years of
experience developing Sonic Spark Plugs and installing them in a
variety of different vehicles, we've found that slight variations to
factory-specified gaps, often produces better efficiency. We've also
found that slight variations can help improve performance for
different areas of the country, depending on altitude, and the type
of gas additives (MTBE, alcohol) used.
Whoops, I dropped a plug
before I installed it. What now?
You can send it back to us,
and we'll make sure it's adjusted properly, or you can set the gap to
the same gap as one of the other plugs.
How can I purchase?
Call us on our toll-free
number. Your plugs will usually ship within three days, and arrive to
you by U.S. Priority Mail.
If these plugs are so
good, why haven't I heard of them before?
Two reasons, first, it is
extremely expensive to launch a global release of any automotive
product. We started out small, and have been growing ever since.
Second, some of your friends may already use Sonic Spark Plugs. We're
one of the best-kept secrets around, because lots of drivers don't
want their "competition" to know their secret ... that a quick spark
plug change can offer a performance upgrade.
When do you start with
NGK or Autolite plugs?
Generally, the Japanese
vehicles use NGK, and the U.S. and European vehicles like Autolite.
But both plugs will generally work fine in either type of
engine.
Are the heat-ranges the
same?
Yes. That's what makes our
plugs so safe in your engine. Unlike other high-performance engine
parts, we use factory settings. Sonic Spark Plugs give your vehicle
more power by increasing its efficiency, not by pushing it harder
than it was designed.
How will my vehicle ride
and feel differently when I install?
It depends how you drive.
Some people like power, some like mileage. Some engines have lots of
carbon deposits in their cylinders, so they will not feel an
immediate effect. But after Sonic Spark Plugs clear out some of those
carbon deposits, their power will usually go up.
My car's engine isn't in
great shape. Can Sonic Spark Plugs help me?
Sorry, our plugs are designed
for well-tuned engines. Put them in a defective engine and you will
not see a difference, except that you will quickly foul-up a new set
of plugs.
What about Platinum and
Titanium plugs?
We used to use Platinum
plugs, but we discovered that the conventional metal gives the best
results for most applications. This is because conventional
copper-alloy oxidizes just a little bit, which makes for the ideal
conductor. Platinum is long-wearing, but for people who take good
care of their vehicles, we recommend conventional copper-alloy plugs.
Titanium is also good, but a bit untested.
What about Split
FireTM, Bosch® and other high-performance plugs?
They're decent plugs. But
they can't do what Sonic Spark Plugs can do, because they don't have
our patented ultrasound yet.
What guarantees and
warranties are on the plugs?
30-day money-back guarantee
on the plugs. No other warranty is implied or expressed.
